APC leaders mount pressure as Ribadu concludes plans to defect To PDP

APC leaders mount pressure as Ribadu concludes plans to defect To PDP

There were strong indications yesterday that former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has concluded plans to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in spite of pressure to shelve such move.
A source in his campaign organisation said Ribadu might announce his final decision on or before Friday to lay all speculations to rest.
It was learnt that the initial plan was for Ribadu to defect on Thursday at a mini-rally in Yola, but he decided to hold more consultations following protests from some stakeholders in Adamawa PDP.

Ribadu was also said to be hurt by alleged blackmail by some of his rivals in PDP, who have drawn a battle line. But some leaders of the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) have held last minutes meeting with Ribadu to plead with him to shelve the plan.

Another reliable source said: “Barring any last minute hitch, Ribadu has concluded arrangements to defect to the ruling PDP on or before Friday to settle the controversy trailing his defection once and for all. Meetings to this effect were concluded last weekend.
“All I can tell you is that Ribadu will make his decision known to Nigerians. He is almost finalising last segment of consultations. “The only thing disturbing Ribadu and his team is the increasing mudslinging and attacks on his person.” Another source gave insights into the final stage of plans to bring Ribadu on board by some PDP leaders.

The source said: “In one of the meetings in Abuja, a PDP stakeholder from Adamawa Southern Senatorial District invited a couple of APC chairmen from Adamawa State, together with a handful of former members of the state Assembly during the tenure of former Governor Boni Haruna in the company of three members of the current PDP State Executive Council to a meeting with Ribadu himself in attendance.

“The stakeholder, who happens to come from the same local government with a top aide to Mr. President, informed the meeting that he was personally directed by Mr. President to invite them to the meeting and inform them that the defection of Ribadu to PDP had the full support of Mr. President.

“He said what they needed to do was to mobilise the ward delegates in readiness for the party primaries that would soon take place, especially given the fact that apart from those three members of the state PDP Executive Council that were at the meeting, all the others cannot be relied upon. “He further told the meeting that Ribadu would be granted a waiver to contest the governorship whether the state chapter of the party liked it or not.”

Another source said: “A cabal is behind the coming of Ribadu and the way it is going about it, it cannot impose Ribadu on PDP in Adamawa. We know their game plan.
“From Kaduna, a very close ally and former minister in the early 80s brokered a meeting between Ribadu, who is his godson with Awwal Tukur, his nephew and son-in law on how to prosecute the Nuhu ticket.

“From all these and in spite of the stiff opposition from all other major stakeholders of PDP Adamawa, we wait to see how Ribadu can scale through and pick a ticket to run under PDP, a party he had a few months ago called assembly of rogues and a Federal Government he had run down naked before the nation and international community in his report on the oil sector.”

Late Alh. (Dr.) Ado Abdullahi Bayero 1930-2014

LATE ALHAJI (Dr.) ADO ABDULLAHI BAYERO 1930-2014

Bayero was born to the family of Hajiya Hasiya and Abdullahi Bayero and into the Fulani Sullubawa clan that has presided over the emirate of Kano since 1819. He was the eleventh child of his father and the second of his mother. At the age of seven, he was sent to live with Maikano Zagi.

He started his education in Kano studying Islam, after which he attended Kano Middle School. He graduated from the School of Arabic Studies in 1947. He then worked as a bank clerk for the Bank of British West Africa until 1949, when he joined the Kano Native Authority. He attended Zaria Clerical College in 1952. In 1954, he won a seat to the Northern regional House of Assembly.

He was head of the Kano Native Authority police division from 1957 until 1962, during which he tried to minimize the practice of briefly detaining individuals and political opponents on the orders of powerful individuals in Kano. He then became the Nigerian ambassador to Senegal. During this time he enrolled in a French language class. In 1963, he succeeded Muhammadu Inuwa as Emir of Kano.Bayero became emir during the first republic, at a time when Nigeria was going through rapid social and political changes and regional, sub-regional and ethnic discord was increasing. In his first few years, two pro-Kano political movements gained support among some Kano elites. The Kano People's Party emerged during the reign of Muhammadu Inuwa and supported the deposed Emir Sanusi, but it soon evaporated. The Kano State Movement emerged towards the end of 1965 and favored more economic autonomy for the province.

The death in 1966 of many political agitators from northern Nigeria, and the subsequent establishment of a unitary state, consolidated a united front in the northern region but also resulted in a spate of violence there, including in Kano. Bayero's admirers credit him with bringing calm and stability during this and later crises in Kano.

As emir, he became a patron of Islamic scholarship and embraced Western education as a means to succeed in a modern Nigeria. The constitutional powers of the emir were whittled down by the military regimes between 1966 and 1979. The Native Authority Police and Prisons Department was abolished, the emir's judicial council was supplanted by another body, and local government reforms in 1968, 1972, and 1976 reduced the powers of the emir. During the second republic, he witnessed hostilities from the People's Redemption Party led government of Abubakar Rimi.

In 2002 he led a Kano elders forum in opposing the onshore and offshore abrogation bill.
On 19 January 2013, a failed assassination attempt left two of his sons injured and his driver and bodyguard dead, among others.

Died after a long illness in the comfort of his bedroom.

MALLAM YASIR RAMADAN GWALE

MALLAM YASIR RAMADAN GWALE

By Abbas Yushau

Every Kin follower of Facebook especially in Kano and its environs is abreast and very conversant with the Name Yasir Ramadan Gwale.

Its indeed interesting to celebrate individuals alive and inform fellow human beings about their contributions to the society wich they live.

After performing Ishai Prayer this evening at our Place of gathering with childhood Friends along a popular Road in Nassarawa GRA,the Name YASIR RAMADAN GWALE come to mind and i decided to share with fellow facebookers about how i understand and view the Man Yasir Ramadan Gwale.

Malam Yasir Ramada Gwale is wearing the Toga of a revolutionary ,young and fearless individual who is always educating people and sharing the bounties of Knowledge he was endowed by the Almighty Allah on this popular social Medium called Facebook.

Sometimes if Mr Gwale made some postings i use to ponder over my self and said if our youth are the likes of Yasir Ramadan Gwale our society would have been completely changed for the better.

He always discuss and educate us on the following issues,Religion, economy, entertainment,Agriculture, politics, the Travails of the Muslim Ummah all over the world especially the overthrow of President Muhammad Morsi,The threat posed by Shiietes to the religion of Islam, the Devastating effects of Boko Haram,to mention but a few.

Sometimes when i went back home after hectic working hours my siblings always greet me with the News Yasir Ramadan Gwale made so so posting, and most of them are between the ages of 18-22. This indicates the power of social medium which Yasir Ramadan Gwale is addicted and attached to.

Our Youth are suppose to emulate this gentleman who is never tired in propagating a mission aimed at inculcating awarenes into our people,Today we have the Likes of Late Dr Bala Muhammad found in Yasir Ramadan Gwale by igniting social awareness through the Facebook unlike late Dr Bala through Radio Kano before his brutal assasination by those who did not wish the society well.

Recently i was highly elated when Malam Yasir once drag his facebook followers into the importance of relationship by posting the Following word ''Zainab'' without explaining what it means, many of his friends including me commented based on our own understanding,He once posted about how bribery and corruption had eaten deep into the Nigerian Police Force,by intimating us with his own experience.

His avowed commitment to the religion of Islam and the propagation of the sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam cannot be over emphasised,i am one of his Keen follwers in our vernacular Newspaper AMINIYA ,a sister publication of Daily Trust and how he is trying hard to educate our people especially those that cannot understand the colonial language on what is affecting them as far as the Nigerian Project is concerned

Amazingly i came to Know Yasir Ramadan Gwale on Facebook in late 2009 when i first open account with the social network,he is one of my first early Friends on Facebook, Destiny beckoned on me when in the mid 2010,i visited a Junior Secondary School class mate and a friend who happened to start lecturing with Kano State College of Arts Science and Remedial Studies CAS KANO,Yusuf Nuhu Inuwa, when malam Yusuf was escorting me from his office,he introduced to me one Young Slim, handsome Individual wearing a cap, popularly Known as Dara,Malam Yusuf Stopped the man and said Abbas! This is Yasir Ramadan Gwale.that was my first contact with this revolutionary individual,a revolutionary on facebook.

I was compelled by my inner mind to share with you a little i understand about this great individual and what he stands for.

I suggest that the Nigerian Government that is organising Jamboree every blessed year to confer National Honours on deserving Nigerians, people like Yasir deserved this honour together with fellow youth from the southern part of this country in order to erase the impression that its been confered only to Government Sychopants and those blowing its whistle without doing nothing for the Masses.

Wallahul Mustaan,

May Allah continue to grant him wisdom ,good health long life and continue educating us on burning local, national and international issues. Ameen
